COT report Indicator
Originally from ticket #1904.
Hello,
I read some of the dialog dated 11/2009 on the NT support site leading me to this website. I have been interested in COT data for quite some time and use the NT platform, so will be a big help. How is new data obtained? Can I chart other factors in the CFTC data set, like Swap dealers? I have downloaded the CFTC data and there are quite a few derivations, can these be charted with your indicator? And, is a help file available with setup instructions?
Thank you,
John

Standard Cot Report
Data is downloaded directly from the CFTC and is pure unaltered data. It is downloaded asynchrously by the indicator and cached. Then new data is downloaded and appended when it is available. So all you do is place the indicator onto a chart and let it propogate.

There are the standard COT Report and the New Data Format - New COT Report

"..This is an addon for the COTREPORT7 product which you must buy and install before you can use the new format COTReport.
The cftc.gov site is offering a new data format where the traders are subdivided in the categories: Producer/SwapDealer/ManagedMoney/OtherReportables and NonReportable for the Disaggregated format.
For the financial Future format the traders are subdived as: Dealer/AssetManager/Leveraged/OtherReportables and Nonreportables. Please see http://www.cftc.gov/MarketReports/CommitmentsofTraders/index.htm ...."
