Hi Simon
You can download the MicroTrends NinjaTrader Framework here:
http://www.micro-trends.co.uk/ninjatrader-downloads/
Which contains all of the Indicators and strategies - which you can use free for sim etc
Hi Tom, that's great. A question though - how often does the software call
home (licensing wise) what information is collected from my pc / NT install.
best,
Simon
Hi Simon
Currently nothing with the latest releases.
I did implement a customer experience improvement program CEIP- but removed it in v 42.
It used to collect data about indicators and strategy names, data series and instrument only.
It was optional and switched on and off via the options in the MicroTrends Ninja Control Panel.
Data was stored in clear ascci files and then read and uploaded at a period of time, it used to ping google analytics with data and event data
so I could see which countries and locations were using what etc…
It caused messages to pop on the local machine, so I removed it. This informaton will simply be taken from license sales instead.
Although I would still at some point like to know who is using what and if possible on which markets so I can feed that back to the trader populus etc…
In terms of licensing.
Your NinjaTrader machineid is used as a parameter/token to lookup which licenses have been purchased for that copy of NinjaTrader, they are downloaded and stored in clear XML.
This happens once on start up of the MicroTrends Ninja Control Panel - which is called and runs along side NT when a MicroTrends indicator or strategy is started. It appears as an M in your icons in your system tray - near the system clock on your desktop.
The license information is read and displayed in the MicroTrends NinjaTrader Control Panel - licenses tab.
If an indicator or strategy is started - on a chart whilst connected to a live trading account connection, the license file is read by the indicator/strategy common license method.
There is no reporting back to mother ship etc..
Going Forwards
Instead of CEIP for those who want to - indicator and strategy settings, data series, instruments, and expectancy performance result summaries can be shared with other trading groups or publicly.
There is also the Artificial intelligence modules - but that needs more thought and deferring. The idea was to upload results with trader permissions , settings and result key measurements, or in read only mode simply download settings for the most popular/ effective settings, based on data collected - settings relating purely to a measurement of expectancy, risk reward, win ratio, recovery etc -
Data would also be provided for popular futures contracts based on internal back testing and optimisation databases + also a network or hive of robots that would collate and test various settings and instruments.
The goal is then next generation of strategies will simply then have a few parameters such as risk factor per trade, frequency high, low, trend or mean reversion/ hybrid -turnkey and all configurable online or locally from your account
Potentially
There will also be a Trade Sentimeter - which will allow traders to vote long or short for a market and see the summary via the Easy Trader UI.
Personal Settings/ Roaming settings
An online service will allow you to save your settings, make notes against them, etc currently these are stored locally in your local app data path:
Any such schemes will be open, and optin out..etc
So no snooping etc
For example in windows XP Local app data is stored at:
C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\MicroTrends
If you have any concerns or ideas please let me know
many thanks
Tom
