MicroTrends framework slows NinjaTrader to a crawl? when trying to display strategies
Originally from ticket #3009.
I recently install NinjaTrader on PC to learn this platform. I have been running and trying different options with the software for about a week without any real issues. All done in SIM mode, using Market Replay. The PC is a 64-bit OS, running Windows 7 Ultimate, and I have been using the 64-bit version of NinjaTrader.
Yesterday, I download and installed you MicroTrends framework to learn more about your strategies & indicators. It all runs, but runs very slow. Each feature takes quite a bit to load, once it loads it seems to run OK, but if I click something to make a change, it takes considerably long for each response.
Is there a setting I missed, or could this be something to do with my PC running a 64-bit OS?
Respectfully,
Arlyn Dale
Hi
Please can you provide the following information so we can understand and replicate the issue and provide you with a solution:
1. Product - indicator or Robot name
2. Are you trading a Live or sim account
3. Is the problem occurring during historical trades or realtime
3.1 is this issue hapeening during trading or when adding an indicator or strategy to a chart?
3.2 What are the steps to reproduce this behaviour?
Right click a chart > Click Strategies or Indicators?
Is the system hanging during display of indicators or strategies listings?
3.3 is is the speed of loading a strategy or indicatr on a chart of data?
4. What Datafeed
5. Instrument
6. chart bars type 10 Minutes 24/7 etc
7. Dataseries session template - Default 24/5 , default 24/7, US Equities RTH etc
7.2 Are you saving chart data as historical in tools > options >data
8. how many days are you loading? try 5?
9. how many workspaces and charts do you have open - or hidden?
If you can follow the above and supply as much as you can you might find that process will give the answer.
We look forward to your response and assisting you with your solution.
many thanks
John

John,
Answers follow >>
I am a very new user of Ninja Trader, so I very likely am doing something
wrong on my end. It just worked well on the initial install, and only
started the extreme delay once I installed the MT Framework.
Thanks,
Arlyn

Apologies. Ok i can see what has happened the ticket for some reason was lost in a suspended queue and we did not see your reply. We are 99.99% on all tickets sorry this delay occurred.
Thank you for supplying the details: the problem you are experiencing is:
There is an issue with NinjaTrader 7 - now fixed with NinjaTrader 8 - whereby when you install the MT Framework and for the first time you try to bring up a strategy window NT Hangs... as it goes through some internal task.
After install:
A. In Most cases this goes away after the first time - 90%
B.In some cases this happens each time you restart NinjaTrader
and it means waiting for 1 minute or so until NT7 does what it does internally.
C. In very few cases it does this every time you access the strategy window
Was your scenario B or C?
in some cases people chose to live with scenario B and allow NT to go through the busy period when displaying the strategies window for the first time,.
In the case of Scenario C:
I am planning to re configure the installer and break it into 1 indicator pack, 1 framework core pack , and optional strategies to install/remove as you require...
This is hope will alleviate scenarios B and C....
I am sorry for your experience - Please try it again and find out if it is scenario B or C ---- if B - then all we can ask is that is livable or not...
for C we will be anouncing an update in the news letter in about 1 month or sooner
I would like to offer you a 1 year license for the product as compensation. You can send in your machine id.
