Suggested Settings for the Strategies
Originally from ticket #3449.
Hello,
I'd like some help setting up a multi-contract scalping strategy for CL. (I'm open to other Futures markets (ZB, ZN, ES) if there are appropriate strategy settings for them.)
Using the MT Scalper, I've been quite unsuccessful backtesting the strategy with different parameters.
Could you please provide a template or some sort of baseline strategy settings?
Best,
Bra...

Hi
We don't provide trading advice only support on the features.
Some traders take many months to arrive at settings and stats that they feel they can use in trading - then further time in realtime sim testing -for this reason it is free to allow you not to rush or penalize your time.
For the Scalper you need to understand the concepts of the signal indicator and how to set it up on its own - outside of a strategy.
Please see this:

Then study this:

There are some settings and templates that show different feature usages

We can assist with settings to match your desired approach for trading - such as low frequency versus high frequency - high win ratio version low win ratio -both with positive expectancy as the goal. etc

Simply setting stops and targets can control that scenario - you will feel more comfortable with certain settings - regardless of the P&L - we are talking style.. such as letting it run etc... versus small targets...etc
Then you decide if you think your dataseries and timing allows fully auto - or if you need discretionary control over the mechanical system as detailed here for example:

hope that helps
Tom
