MTDS long or short bias
Originally from ticket #3021.
On the MTDS main screen if I "Uncheck" either "Long" or "Short" then MTDS will NOT take any trades. Can this be fixed so I can choose to stay with a Up or Down trend and ignore all counter trend trades?
Thanks,
Terry
If Long is checked you take only long trades
If Short is checked you take only short trades
This can be adjusted in realtime via the mouse on the NinjaBuddy.

thank you

That's the problem, if you take one of the checks out then it won't trade at all.
Example: If the market is trending up and I "Uncheck" "Short" so I only take "Long" trades MTDS will NOT work at all. It won't take any trades.
Ok
We will start with what we know about the technology then ask for a detailed view of what you are doing and diagnose the issue.
We know the issue cannot be the features - as the NinjaBuddy / MTDS - software is hard wired, designed and tested 100,000s of live hours trading across 100s of traders to work in the following way in all versions and it is impossible to change the compiled code:
NinjaBuddy Controls
On the Ninjabuddy the realtime trade controls/ 3 checkboxes
Check Box Long = Checked to allow Longs - this controls the parameter: "Strat Can trade Long" = True or False
Check Box Short = Checked for Allow Shorts - this controls the parameter : "Strat Can trade Short"= True or False
Check Box "Trade" this must be Checked to allow trading automatically based on signals.
This controls the general parameter
"MT User: Can Auto Trade Signal" = True/False
Ok button
Each time you change a control please click the OK button so that the new state is recorded.
Diagnosis
What we do not know is how you are using the system or what your robot is or its settings - so we are unable to guess what is preventing trading.
Either it is because the settings are confused and preventing trading
or
Some other reason such as session timeout, trade rules, trad filters, money management rules, or you own custom coding is are preventing trading
Please provide the following so we can assist
.1 A screenshot of the Chart showing the settings of the NinjaBuddy and outcome
2. Please provide the following
Datafeed
Is this realtime or backtest trading?
live account or sim account?
can you place trades manually?
3. Chart Instrument
DataSeries - Range/ minute
Session Template - Default 24/7
4. Strategy Screenshot of settings/parameters
5. Anything else such as the rules of the system
the expected results versus the outcome

ok
That's great feedback... thank you.
Your strategy looks like it is out of session or locked - why is the chart gray?
Possibly the dynamics change of the strategy with bias and so no more new traders are occurring or there is some other error.
1. Please can you set the chart background to white for the test.?
2. Set General param MT User: "MTDS Info Bars Display= True" so we can see what state the strategy is in
3. Set session days = 999 (and it will then recalc ignore)
4. Set "Exit on close" = False
5. Is the money management hit in the historical trades?
6. is the strategy out of session?
7. Please scroll all the way to the left of the chart and look for trades - look at the last set of trades - is it locked out for days or monety management
8. Set general param "MT User: Historical Trading"= False
If the above does not answer the question - then we look to errors halting the strategy but leaving it on the chart as if its still working.
9. Please make sure the strategy is Enabled=True -your parameters are Enabled=False - Please right click the chart and explore the running parameters of the running strategy - so we know if it is crashed or not.
10. Is the strategy running in the control center?
11 Are the historical trades being blocked or just realtime...
12. What is in the Log of the control center? Any errors?
Please let us know if you require further assistance.
many thanks
Tom
