MTDS Software Development Kit Q&A

Greetings,

I’m now getting to the MTDS. I have sufficient understanding of the framework to move to second base. I downloaded the MTDS, installed it, started my NT and still do not see MTDS as an available strategy to add onto a chart. It IS visible from the Edit Strategy but cannot place it on the chart. I then tried to remove it from the utilities (as in the video) but could not because of a dependency. How do I move forward?

I can see the MTDS Ttestharness and interestingly, I added it as a strategy to a chart. What exactly does that execute? Is it supposed to produce signals? I ask because it showed some amazing numbers in the MTDS info bar – so it is getting in and out for some reason, but I don’t know what- is it bar change?

Also, in your videos I noted that you are using GANN RENKO bars. Those bars are not visible to me. Do I need to download another kit or is this what *should* be visible if the MTDS had installed properly?

Hi

You need to make sure you install the SDK + Templates + Compile your strategies afterwards
Then you will see a list of strategies in your Strategy List
Make sure you add the strategy to the chart and set enabled=true
Trade Setup=1 for example on some strategies....

Test Harness strategy is just a basic demo of how to code - you will see it in your strategy listing if you go to edit.
You can use it every tick on bar close.

Bars
The Gann Renko had issues in realtime so we stopped using them...
Try the Uni Renko bars search on the internet for those if you want something similar etc

Thanks for your reply. I did install it (twice!) along with the SDK. I’m attaching a couple of screenshots for you to see what’s visible to me both in the “Edit Strategy” panel as well as what’s visible to me when adding strategies on the chart. Other dependent strategies (SDK) are visible.

Is it possible I need to wipe out the current install and re-install? (hope not). If so, can you provide instructions?

I’ve added the test harness onto a couple of instruments and it computed some trades but I still haven’t figured out what conditions are triggering the trades. N bar reversals?

ok that all looks fine.
If you can compile without errors that is also a good test...
So edit any strategy and pres f5 to see it compiles ok...

Test Harness
you can open the code and read it - it is open source
from memory it is Close>Open or Close <open

you can edit the code and save a copy of it as your new filename and remember to change the class name at the top

I edited a strategy fine. Compiled both within the wizard first fine. Then compiled with just the code (basically made a replicate of one of the MTDS strategies and changed the name). Still the Double shot is not visible.

I am not sure how you resolve such situations but would it would be very helpful if you can provide me a more radical path.

I am not able to understand what you mean.
MTDS is the name of a product MicroTrends Double Shot Strategy Foundation - full name
it is installed as a compiled dll
it is used as a base class for strategys
it also contains + indicators
+ an SDK showing examples of how to use it

By all accounts the software is working correctly from your description and you can see all SDK examples and can add them to a chart and let them trade.
Add a strategy to a chart e.g. Set Enabled=True

What do you mean by "Still the Double shot is not visible." ?

Apologies for not being clear. I am trying to follow the video tutorial on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtKS2GMs9w4U5sfvbaHt8Flv99oVLBMRP where the presenter in the video actually selects this strategy: MTDoubleShotMultiMACrossover. This strategy is not visible. I only see the SDK versions. Is that working normally? Thanks

All strategies supplied with MTDS are SDK - Open Source samples

If you follow the video it will show the MTDS being installed then the usage of the MultiMACrossover being used and some features

So you would use the same strategy - the same as you have selected.
Add it to chart
And configure the trade logic settings as in the video
Trade Setup Mode= n
Set Enabled =True

Is that what you mean?

The MultiMACrossover is only available with an SDK in it. Is that the same thing as what the video is showing? Because ONLY the SDK strategies are visible to me and the utube has none of them showing. That’s the source of my confusion.

Please make sure you have installed the latest version of code and installed all the SDK templates and examples - 7.0.1.5

The SDK means Software development Kit. It consists of open source strategies samples and some system files.

The MultiMACrossover is one of the files which the SDK consists of.
To use it - the video shows how to install, check the install and compile and then see the Strategy and add it to a chart.

Compile all strategies after installation
then you can add them from the list to the chart
or you can view them via the code editor
