Q about the MTDS settings for combination B/E & TRAIL
Originally from ticket #3506.
HI support
Just start to get my way around in the new MTDS environment - and like to use the B/E & TRAIL settings in my own strategy
Q is about settings of combined B/E & TRAIL
Could you give me the settings for my aim as follows ?
trading with 3 contracts on future market
initial stop loss 46 ticks
target 1
when my first contract's target 98 ticks profit is hit, then go to B/E + 1 , (so my 1st target is protected at all times and after my trail starts at 100 ticks of profit and price pulls back under my B/E level, it will stop out at B/E +1 )
and in case price starts to move to higher grounds
start a trail when price hits 100 ticks of profit, following the price at 20 ticks ( when price goes to reach 120 ticks of profit , stop loss moves up for first time from 99 to 100 ticks profit ) and follows price after that every tick up with a trail stop of 20 ticks ( 121 ticks of profit reached, trail stop goes up to 101 ticks of profit ) and so on until stopped out because price did a pull back greater than 20 ticks
target 2
when my second contract's target 98 ticks profit is hit, then go to B/E + 1 , (so my 1st target is protected at all times and after my trail starts at 100 ticks of profit and price pulls back under my B/E level, it will stop out at B/E +1 )
and in case price starts to move to higher grounds
start a trail when price hits 100 ticks of profit, following the price at 30 ticks ( when price goes to reach 130 ticks of profit , stop loss moves up for first time from 99 to 100 ticks profit ) and follows after that every tick up with a trail stop of 30 ticks ( 131 ticks of profit reached, trail stop goes up to101 ticks of profit until reaches 159 ticks of profit and trail stop has gone up to 129 ticks of profit) then, when price hits 160 ticks of profit like to tighten trail stop to 20 ticks following price, so price moves up to 160 ticks of profit , trail stop goes up from 129 ticks to 140 ticks of profit and follows that every tick up with a trail stop of 20 ticks and so on until stopped out because price did a pull back greater than 20 ticks
target 3
when my third contract's target 98 ticks profit is hit, then go to B/E + 1 , (so my 1st target is protected at all times and after my trail starts at 100 ticks of profit and price pulls back under my B/E level, it will stop out at B/E +1 )
and in case price starts to move to higher grounds
start a trail when price hits 100 ticks of profit, following the price at 40 ticks ( when price goes to reach 140 ticks of profit , stop loss moves up for first time from 99 to 100 ticks profit ) and follows after that every tick up with a trail stop of 40 ticks ( 141 ticks of profit reached, trail stop goes up to101 ticks of profit until reaches 179 ticks of profit and stop has gone up to 139 ticks of profit) then, when price hits 180 ticks of profit like to tighten trail stop to 30 ticks following price, so price moves up to 180 ticks of profit , trail stop goes up from 139 ticks of profit to 150 ticks of profit and follows that every tick up with a trail stop of 30 ticks until reaches 199 ticks of profit and stop has gone up to 169 ticks of profit) then, when price hits 200 ticks of profit like to tighten trail stop to 20 ticks following price, so price moves up to 200 ticks of profit , trail stop goes up from 169 ticks of profit to 180 ticks of profit and follows that every tick up with a trail stop of 20 ticks
and so on until stopped out because price did a pull back greater than 20 ticks
When my aim is not fully supported by the current MTDS settings, please give me the closest possible solution to my aim
Looking forward to the settings that will enable my aim to be accomplished
greetings
john
PS -Read something on the forum about
Trade engine interval setting = trade management can be decreased to speed up trail process , can you tell me how this works and what setting need to be adjusted to benefit from this
***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
General PArmeter
MTDS Engine: Trade Management interval: 0.25
Please Note:
A. Break Even and Stop Trail moves all stops - it does not have a stop trail seperate for each bracket.
There are from 1 to 3 levels of stop trail - that can be triggered at certain profit targets.
So it is not possible to do what you have asked in the current MTDS version.
B. Typically Adaptive USAR or ATR Stop Trails Such as Trail stop type: 6 or 8
or Dynamic Trail Offsets Trail stop Offset Calc mode =1
are more effective than a static amount and are a generic approach - and time proven which can be used on any market without calculating or optimising different settings for each market
C. you can also set the trails and breakevens to trigger based on the targets or mutliple or stops to save time configuring
Something Similar to what you describe would be:
1. Static Price Trailing Stops Example
Strategy ATM Stops
Stop Loss: 46
Stop Loss Calc mode:0
Stop Be Trigger:98
Stop Be Trigger Calc Mode: 0
Stop Be Offset: 1
Stop Be Offset Calc Mode:0
Stop Be Offset Cal Mode Multi: 1
//Strategy ATM Targets
Target 1: 98
Target 1 Calc Mode:0
Target 2: 98
Target 2 Calc Mode:0
//trigger at 100 follow by 40
Strategy ATM Trailing Stops 1
Trail Stop 1 Type: 3
Trail Stop 1 Trigger: 100
Trail Stop 1 Trigger Calc Mode: 0
Trail Stop 1 Offset 40
Trail Stop 1 Offset Calc Mode:0
//trigger at 150 follow by 30
Strategy ATM Trailing Stops 2
Trail Stop 2 Type: 3
Trail Stop 2 Trigger: 150
Trail Stop 2 Trigger Calc Mode: 0
Trail Stop 2 Offset 30
Trail Stop 2 Offset Calc Mode:0
//trigger at 200 follow by 30
Strategy ATM Trailing Stops 3
Trail Stop 3 Type: 3
Trail Stop 3 Trigger: 200
Trail Stop 3 Trigger Calc Mode: 0
Trail Stop 3 Offset 20
Trail Stop 3 Offset Calc Mode:0
2. Adaptive Dynamic Approach Example
Strategy ATM Stops
Stop Loss: 50 (Adaptive will be controlled and set in trading by Stop Loss Calc mode)
Stop Loss Calc mode: 1
Stop Loss Calc mode multi: 2.5
//move to breakeven+1 when first target hit
Stop Be Trigger Calc Mode: 2 (Trigger at Target 1)
Stop Be Trigger Cal Mode Multi.: 1
Stop Be Offset: 1
Stop Be Offset Calc Mode: 0
//Strategy ATM Targets - RISK REWARD Targets
Target 1: 50 ( will be calculated as 1R - 1 times the stop risk value)
Target 1 Calc Mode:3 (risk reward target)
Target 1 Calc Mode Multi.:1
Target 2: 100 ( will be calculated as 2R - 2 times the stop risk value)
Target 2 Calc Mode:3 (risk reward target)
Target 2 Calc Mode Multi.:2
//trigger at 75% of target 2 - adaptive trail and offset
Strategy ATM Trailing Stops 1
Trail Stop 1 Type: 6 - USAR TRAIL
Trail Stop 1 Trigger: 100
Trail Stop 1 Trigger Calc Mode: 4 ( Trigger at 75% of T2)
Trail Stop 1 Trigger Calc Mode Multi: 0.75%
Trail Stop 1 Offset Calc Mode: 1
Trail Stop 1 Offset Calc Mode Multi: 1
//trigger at 150% of target 2 - adaptive trail and offset
Strategy ATM Trailing Stops 1
Trail Stop 2 Type: 6 - USAR TRAIL
Trail Stop 2 Trigger: 150
Trail Stop 2 Trigger Calc Mode: 4 ( Trigger at 150% of T2)
Trail Stop 2 Trigger Calc Mode Multi: 1.5
Trail Stop 2 Offset Calc Mode: 1
Trail Stop 2 Offset Calc Mode Multi: 0.5
//trigger at 200% of target 3 - adaptive trail and offset
Strategy ATM Trailing Stops 1
Trail Stop 3 Type: 2 - PARABOLIC SAR
Trail Stop 3 Trigger: 200
Trail Stop 3 Trigger Calc Mode: 4 ( Trigger at 200% of T2)
Trail Stop 3 Trigger Calc Mode Multi: 2
Trail Stop 3 Offset Calc Mode: 1
Trail Stop 3 Offset Calc Mode Multi: 0.25
