questions about mtds position sizing
Originally from ticket #3518.
hello support,
Looking at the MTDS for position sizing and using brackets and units it seems to be a bit confusing at the moment how to use this
can you explain the difference between
position size
brackets
units
trade units
position allocation mode
lots spread %
and give me some samples on how to use these settings
greetings john
STRATEGY MONEY MANAGEMENT (position sizing)
1A. Position Size ( double click to refresh if change params below) 1 based on Position Allocation Mode=0 the sum of brackets 1.2and 3 or if all switched on by 1C bracket trade unit #3 or when Pos All Mode = 1 user defined %
1B. Position Allocation Mode 0
0= static user defined position based on total lots per bracket 1,2,3,for market, stop, entry orders only
1= auto %, lots spread per bracket from 1 to 3 based on the pos size filled of the entry order position filled/Bracket uni #- spread across the brackets which are on- any unequal remainders/lots are place on bracket 1
1C. Bracket Trade unit # of brackets 1
1 . uses bracket 1 only
2 . uses brackets 1 and 2
3. uses brackets 1 ,2 and 3
2A. Bracket 1 Postion Size Quantity 1 1 position Quantity per target trade unit 1 to 100.000.000 units for the entry-target and stop oco bracket 1= a minimum of 1 units
2B. Bracket 2 Position Size Quantity 2 1 position Quantity per target trade unit 2 to 100.000.000 units for the entry-target and stop oco bracket 2= a minimum of 0 units,0 means this bracket will be used ???
2C. Bracket 3 Position Size Quantity 3 1 position Quantity per target trade unit 3 to 100.000.000 units for the entry-target and stop oco bracket 3= a minimum of 0 units ,0 means this bracket wil be used ????
position allocation mode = 0 - static - position size is the sum of the "bracket trade unit "
position allocation mode = 1 - auto - it will spread the lots across the brackets as defined by n Brackets - useful for partial fills order types , limit, stoplimit
just keep it on: position allocation mode = 0 unless you want to use stoplimits or limits
if you do position allocation mode = 1
the set position size and then number of brackets trade units - to spread the position size acrooss
position allocation mode:1
position size: 10
"bracket trade unit: 3
Bracket 1: 4
Bracket 2: 3
Bracket 3: 3
position allocation mode:0
bracket trade unit: 3
Bracket 1: 4
Bracket 2: 3
Bracket 3: 3
position size: 10 = sum of the Brackets
